Gioana Lopizzo, a junior at La Costa Canyon High in California, placed second in the girls invitational mile in a lifetime-best 4:47.76 at the 63rd Mt. SAC Relays at Hilmer Lodge Stadium in Walnut, Calif. Lopizzo followed her personal-best 9:59.08 performance April 8 in the invitational 3,200 meters at the 55th Arcadia Invitational at Arcadia High by lowering her mile personal-best effort by nearly eight seconds.
